Young Childhood Years of Gaming & RP.

I was fortunate enough to watch the evolution of gaming as I grew up. My siblings and I had the Nintendo (my favorite game was Arkista’s Ring, though I never finished it), Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64. That was when I discovered and fell in love with Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the best game of my youth.

I was a preteen when I first dove into the world of roleplay. I roleplayed in forums, AOL chats, and MUDs. This is where I learned the many lessons, both good and bad, about roleplay. During that time, I roleplayed in anime-related RPs and medieval fantasy RPs.

Young Adult Years of Gaming & RP.

Sadly I missed the PS1 era, but by the time I moved out, the PS2 was out, and I purchased that. I played many games, mostly RPGs and action games. The only sports game I played was Madden, for I love football (American football for those outside the U.S.) It was during my first year of college that I was introduced by a childhood friend to Dark Age of Camelot. Before that, I had not played any MMOs. I had not even gamed much on the PC outside of educational games. I graduated to the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. However, by that time, I had already shifted to a PC gamer.

As far as roleplay, it was right around my college years that I discovered Second Life. It was extremely different back then than what the medium is now. It was, to me, a roleplayer’s dream. Not only could I visually create the character I was roleplaying, but the environment and props and everything could be created as well! Over the years I roleplayed in various sims in Second Life. I made many lifelong friends, Yuki is one of them. Many years have passed since I last visited Second Life, but I will not forget the memories made there.

Current Gaming & RP.

Present-day, I’ve played so many games. While I still lean heavily towards RPGs, I enjoy a variety of genres nowadays, except for horror, racing, sports, and most fps. I’ve also played many, many, many MMOs. Currently, the MMO that I have an extensive amount of hours in is Final Fantasy XIV Online, closely followed by The Elder Scrolls Online.

I’ve taken breaks between roleplay, some very light and casual, some very involved, and then sometimes no roleplay for many months or years. I’ve also roleplayed various roles. The genres for roleplay has also varied. Most of my experience was in medieval fantasy since those types of roleplay are a dime a dozen. I have roleplayed in futuristic scenarios, cyberpunk, and steampunk. And the last few venues for roleplay for me have been in MMOs. To me, roleplay is an excellent means of creativity between those involved. As with any form of craft or art form, one can always improve and hone their skills.

Preferences.

I do not consider myself a PC elitist. However, I prefer playing PC over a console. I do have a PS4, but most of my gaming is done on my PC.
